Resist White Supremacy

Hi Reader,

Happy National Women’s Her-story Month!

I’m 30+ years in this game of activism, organizing, and political strategy both online and in the streets. March's newsletter is a little reminder to the Black girls that - especially in this political climate - dreaming and softness are valid tools for resisting the white supremacist status quo.

Connecting the dots between dreaming and softness:

  • Softness creates the inner conditions necessary for dreaming. You have the spaciousness to develop and use your highest imagination when your body and mind are in a state of ease. Prioritizing rest, healing your nervous system, and emotional safety frees up energy that would’ve been spent on the hardness of survival or otherwise.
  • Dreaming requires self-trust, and softness supports the development of that trust within yourself. Your ability to believe beyond the possibilities of your current circumstances is strengthened when you allow yourself to be vulnerable, acknowledge your circumstances, and make the intentional decision to dream beyond what is currently happening now. Practicing this makes space for you to dream more expansively and act on those dreams with confidence.
  • Softness and dreaming both reject urgency, productivity, and hustle culture as a measure of worth. When you give yourself permission to slow down, you refuse the demands of hustle culture and productivity. Both dreaming and softness thrive in this unhurried space, where you can reflect, explore, and build the Afrofuture that honors your entire whole self.

I just posted in Patreon about the ways softness can function in our lives. I have a $4 tier, it would be great for you to join us there.

Dreaming allows Black women to shed the constraints of white supremacy and, through our highest selves, we can create spaces that center our whole softness.

In Softness, Dreaming, and Resistance,

Hi Reader, Here’s something I’ve been thinking a lot about. Right now, every day looks pretty much the same for me. I wake up, I tend my shrines, I say my prayers, I go to the gym, I come home, read something super Black, read something super woo woo, and I get in the bathtub. I take a nap. I wake up, and I prep content for the YouTube series I’m currently working on. I check on my herbs. I check on my blackberry plant to make sure the squirrels haven't stolen all my bounty before it's...

Hi Reader! Randomly, I want to start this email to you by saying, "I'm so sick of Astrology borderline lying to Capricorns." LOL! I swear we keep getting these messages that Pluto is done doing something and the stars are doing something else with something and the Sun has progressed to something... and all of that means things are supposed to be more easeful for us soon. WHEN? Tell. Me. When? LOL! (deep sigh) Hi! Happy April! The newsletter usually goes out on the first of the month but...

Hi Reader I missed sending the newsletter on the 1st of the month. I know. For those of you who follow this newsletter closely, you probably noticed. For those of you who didn't — thank you for the grace anyway. Either way, I wanted to name it. The truth is, I've been deep in a prayer container that began on February 2nd, and I am just now coming up for enough air to sit down and write to you. When I say prayer container, I don't mean the polite, neat version of prayer that many of us were...
